This is the Vernal Equinox. Affinity and Lark Galleries have joined forces in series of events to combine the visual and performing arts to welcome SPRING. This combination of energies and venues will start with the CELEBRATIONS OF THE EQUINOX, 350 3rd Street and at the historic deco building 216 The Promenade, Long Beach.
The opening night will be a part of the LONG BEACH ART WALK from 6 to 9pm Saturday March 12. On display will be exhibitions of Fine Arts by Melanie,Manos,Ray Klausen, Dan Pyle, Jeffrey Nemeroff, Randall Oldrieve, Al Vass, j.Reto, Sel Sarkin,David Gardner,Michelle Oppenheimer, Larissa LARK Pilinsky, Michael Vebernec, William Haugse, Stanley Howard, William Emboden, Jelena and Ivan Butorac , The opening will be greeted by Sangoma Beat World Music plays Brazilian Bossa Novas and smooth Jazz Standards. The vocalist Pashyo Sarkin is accompanied by Rome on guitar, Marvin Bonds on saxophone, Joe Kohanski on bass and Sel Sarkin on percussions. With their laid back melodies and exotic grooves they deliver the perfect entertainment for music and art lovers.
These tandem exhibitions will include Cavafy’s Caress is an intimate theatrical performance exploring the vibrant and passionate words and world of renowned Greek gay poet, Constantine P. Cavafy (1863-1933).The performance was created by and features Los Angeles based multimedia performing artist and writer, Jason Jenn. It will take place at in conjunction with the CELEBRATIONS OF THE EQUINOX exhibition at AFFINITY and LARK Galleries, 216 The Promenade, Long Beach, CA. Two shows will be held on Saturday, April 2nd -- an afternoon matinee at 2pm and evening show at 7pm. Sunday, April 3, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Yorba Linda. Windy Voyage, the chamber music concert features works from Ludwig van Beethoven and Francis Poulenc. The gallery exhibition is an extension of our Celebration of Equinox – and features the works of several outstanding contemporary international and local artists. Windy Voyage musicians are Yana Reznik,Piano: Janice Tipton, flute; Allan Vogel, oboe; Joshua Ranz, clarinet; Richard Beene, bassoon; and, Johanna Yarbrough, horn.
